New pairing, Jamie Chadwick and Paul Hollywood, put in an admirable performance in the Beechdean Aston Martin Racing V8 Vantage at the 2.99 mile Snetterton 300 circuit in Norfolk this weekend.
This was, effectively, the first competitive race weekend for the pair. Paul Hollywood looking relaxed, and current British GT4 Champion, Jamie Chadwick, back behind the wheel following the completion of her A-levels. Both ready to take on the two 1 hour-races.
The action took place under blue skies and stifling conditions, as temperatures rose up to 50C in the Beechdean V8 Vantage cockpit. The on-hand Beechdean ice-creams were a welcome relief!
The due completed a solid qualifying, with Hollywood starting Race 1 from P11 of the 17 GT4s on the “Am” grid. Chadwick took over, after half an hour, to consolidate the position with an 11th place finish.
Meanwhile, Chadwick would line up P8 on the “Pro” grid in Race 2, which was a far more competitive affair. The Pro/Am pairing had their Aston Martin up to fifth before the pit-stop changeover, but after a close tussle with a Team HARD Ginetta on the final laps, they ended the race a highly respectable sixth to round out a trouble free weekend.
They head next to the final round at Donnington in a month’s time.
Speaking immediately after the race Chadwick commented:
“Paul and I both had valuable seat time this weekend, and we managed to show consistent pace, posting some competitive times and results. The heat was really intense in the car, but the balance felt good and we showed positive progress. Hopefully we can maintain this form at Donnnington for the season finale”.
